Robert F. Smith Discusses his Goalsetter Gift on MSNBC Today
Robert F. Smith, Founder, Chairman and CEO of Vista Equity Partners, appeared on “Today,” MSNBC’s morning program on Nov. 10, 2021, to talk about his collaboration with Goalsetter’s “One Stock. One Future.” initiative. Philanthropist Smith said that his gift of 1,500 shares of top tech stocks to the Eagle Academies for Young Men, in New York City and Newark, N.J., including all 2,900 students, educators and staff members, was about opportunity. Smith called it “a wealth creation journey,” for students who typically do not have access to financial literacy or financial tools. Using the Goalsetter app, students will learn first hand “about wealth, wealth creation and utilizing markets,” Smith said. And he invited other companies, and Black and LatinX executives especially, to join him by contributing 1,000 shares to the Goalsetter program.
